The New York Times bestselling author of On Dublin Street returns to the bar where it all began with Braden and Joss for a white-hot new novella full of passion and drama.
When he’s not working at the club, Craig Lanaghan looks out for his mother and little sisters. So when it comes to women, all he wants is a good time. But once Rain Alexander walks into his life, there’s no denying that this woman could be worth much more than a one-night stand….
Rain’s lifelong regret is having left her sister Darcy alone years ago with a guardian who turned out to be abusive. So when Darcy’s boyfriend publicly humiliates her in a cruel way, Rain’s overprotective instincts kick in and she follows him to Club 39—where she meets a guy who just might be her perfect match.
The chemistry between Rain and Craig is explosive, but Rain is out for revenge, and refuses to be sidetracked by flirtation. As things between them heat up, she’ll have to make a heartbreaking choice between giving in to the man of her dreams or putting her sister’s happiness first….

It pains me to write this review...but I gotta do it. I gotta be honest. This story lacked the beauty, depth, drama, and believably of previous ODS books. Honestly, I think Young should have left the series at Moonlight on on Nightinggale Way...that story was utterly beautiful. But she gave us Craig and Rain and they were just okay. Craig was sexy and flirty bartender, but we rarely got to see that side. Rain was a 40s pinup-looking type and that fact was hammered in over and over again. The steamy scenes were HOT HOT HOT though...as per the usual Young style. She just excels at smexy scenes.
And there were times that I felt my emotions riding the waves of the characters...so there were definite Young emotions in there.
But aside from those two facts, it just wasn't that interesting of a read.
I wish the drama that surrounded Rain's sister, Darcy, would have been Rain's story. That was really tragic and original and unlike anything I'd ever read before. Instead she was just a protective big sister with a rough upbringing that we didn't get much info on.
The whole "romantic" vs "realist" was okay...but kind of over done.
The last drama in the book annoyed me. I think Craig should have (and would have) reacted differently. His character proved that he was passionate, but he just sort of let it all happen. (sorry...don't want to include spoilers)
I'm not sure I'm thrilled with the ending all together really.
I'll still read more of Young's books. I'm a fan for life, but this story was lacking.
Can't wait to see what she comes out with next.

One King Way The On Dublin Street Series edition by Samantha Young Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This novella stars male lead Craig. He is the flirty Club 39 bartender featured in Joss's book, On Dublin Street. He is hot, sexy, tall, fun, and has a big heart. He's also an excessive flirt and serial one-night-stander. The female lead, Rain, is a beautiful, sexy, 1940s pin up styled woman with a flawed past. Rain puts up a strong shield for our male lead's flirtatious attacks. Craig is persistent and eventually wears her down.
Where do I start with this one? Sigh. Rain is seeking revenge on behalf of her sister. It's the reason she shows up at Craig's bar in the first place. The revenge plot is childish and downright silly. I couldn't connect with Rain at all. Her reasoning behind everything she does in the book is idiotic. I never bought into her past and her use of it as justification of her present actions.
Craig was likable. He is really sweet and down to earth. He tells his mama he loves her because he knows it will make her happy and he adores his sisters. The first union between the leads is hot, hot, hot! It's a great scene. I admit I enjoyed catching a glimpse of our Dublin Street couples enjoying themselves at the bar. None of this was enough for me to actually like the book. I strongly dislike Rain. And don't get me started on the ridiculous ending. No.

Oh, how I love Samanta Young. I would, and have, read everything by her. Of course, we all know that On Dublin Street was such a classic love story (meaning once you've read it, you'll probably never forget it). I think we all pretty much feel in love with Samantha Young herself after that book. There have been quite a few additions to this series over the years, some just as good as On Dublin Street, and some just okay.
Personally, I'd have to say that this was probably my least favorite in the series. I had a hard time connecting with our h/H. They were just...okay. They didn't sweep me off my feet like so many of her characters before. Their love interest/dilemma just felt...okay. The mission our h has set herself on for the course of this story seemed a bit contrived. Don't get me wrong, I understand the need and want to protect a sibling from harm and hurt, but some of the h's decisions just seemed dumb as f***. She was such a smart, sassy, and independent young lady that the lengths she was determined to go to for her sister and to get revenge just didn't jive together.
Overall, I would say that it is worth the read, but it could have been better. Honestly, maybe another 70-100 pages of character and plot development could have taken this story from okay to incredible. I'm used to crying in most of Samantha Young's stories, but I never even got close with this one--not that I'm a glutton for misery or anything )
